Designer Lauren Elaine debuts the Siren Collection
L.A. based label Lauren-Elaine Designs debuts it's second full collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Downtown, with upcoming events on the horizon.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA, April 25, 2009 /Fashion PR News/ -- Lauren-Elaine Edleson, the designer behind the high-end women's couture label Lauren-Elaine Designs (LED), debuted her Siren Collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Downtown on April 11, 2009. The Siren Collection is the second full collection and the first couture line for the label. The fashion week debut marks the first of a series of events to showcase the new collection throughout southern California and beyond.
Edleson says the Siren Collection gets its name from both the sirens in Greek mythology, as well as the silver-screen sirens of the 40s and 50s. "For this collection, I was hugely inspired by fairytales, a palette of pastels and metallics, and vintage shapes from the 1950s. I worked with a lot of silks and water-colored chiffons, as well as beautiful, pastel-hued brocades. It's very feminine and fanciful, but still completely wearable." The Siren Collection debuted at the red carpet finale event for Fashion Week Downtown, alongside the new line by denim designer David Kahn.
As a designer, Edleson credits a lot of her inspiration to old films, movie costumes, and characters. "Because I studied film production in college, I've always taken huge inspiration from period pieces and cinema. I also think of fashion as the art form that best allows for self-expression- so I'm always inspired to give a personality to each piece I create. You can always change the way you feel and how others perceive you by changing your clothing- kind of like playing a character in a movie."
The LED label was launched during LA Fashion week in March 2008. Since the launch, designer Lauren-Elaine has secured much popularity and a small celebrity following for her ultra-femme, effortlessly elegant evening gowns, cocktail dresses, and separates. Her pieces have appeared in many popular publications, as well as on numerous red carpets.
The entire LED label is manufactured in the USA.
