Natural Looking Breast Augmentation is the Trend, According to Columbus, Ohio, Plastic Surgeon

Think it's not possible to get natural looking results from breast augmentation? "Think Again", says Dr. Robert Houser, a Columbus, Ohio, plastic surgeon.

WESTERVILLE, OH, May 11, 2009 /Fashion PR News/ -- Think it's not possible to get natural looking results from breast augmentation? Think again. According to Dr. Robert Houser, a Columbus, Ohio, plastic surgeon, who performs a large number of breast surgeries, "Not only is it possible, it is currently the look that most women are requesting. Breast augmentation is the procedure of choice for women in their 20's, 30's and 40's, and natural looking breast augmentation is the procedure that I perform most frequently."
"In the '80's and 90's some women opted for larger implants and more obvious breast augmentation. Although this may still be true in certain parts of the country, it is not the norm for many patients today. Certain techniques which are currently being used by some plastic surgeons help to produce more natural looking breast augmentation" explains Dr. Houser.

So just how does a woman make certain she gets the natural looking results that she's hoping for? "This is a question that I am asked almost daily." said Dr. Houser who goes on to explain, "Most of my patients are choosing to have implants placed below the muscle, which helps to cover and reduce the visibility of the actual implants. This is the placement that I recommend for almost all of my patients, for aesthetic reasons, and because implants placed below the pectoral muscle are much less likely to interfere with mammography results."

Does size matter? "Of course, it does! If a woman wants natural looking breast augmentation it is important that she choose implants that are the correct size (volume, projection, and width) for her body. There will be a range of implant sizes that will work on any woman. She should be able to choose from smaller or larger implants, within that range, and still get natural looking results-- when combined with proper surgical technique" advises Dr. Houser.

What about the shape of the implants? Implants come in two shapes; round and tear-drop. "It is counterintuitive," comments the Columbus, Ohio, plastic surgeon, "but round implants actually give the best results and cause fewer problems. Round implants are pulled, by gravity, to a natural shape when placed in the body. Tear-drop implants can turn, resulting in very odd shaped, unnatural looking breasts."

Dr. Houser strongly recommends finding a Plastic Surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons (ABPS) and is a Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). "This ensures that the surgeon has specific training in plastic surgery, and has at least 6 years of experience in providing plastic surgery."
