Cloggs.co.uk Shortlisted for Drapers Award
Cloggs has announced its short listing in the 2010 Draper Footwear Awards in the 'Best New Store' category.
BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND, May 16, 2010 /Fashion PR News/ -- Cloggs.co.uk, the Birmingham based shoe retailer, has been shortlisted in the Drapers Footwear Awards 2010.
The 2000 sq ft www.Cloggs.co.uk store next to Selfridges in the Bullring opened in September 2009 and is one of the finalists in the Best New Store category.
The awards celebrate the best footwear independents, multiple specialists and high street fashion chains, as well as recognising the best brands of the year and the most promising student footwear designers. This year, names such as Schuh, Barratts and Clarks are among the contenders for the various awards.
Cloggs.co.uk, which is run by local brothers Nick and Chris Thomas and business partner Damian Scarlett, faces stiff competition from The Natural Shoe Store in London, Gerry McGuire's in Ireland, Lily T in Buckinghamshire, Shoefair in Northern Ireland and SoleLution in Bristol.
Nick Thomas, company director of Cloggs.co.uk, said: "We're really pleased that the Bullring store has made it onto the shortlist.
"As far as shoe shops go it's pretty unique, incorporating many of the features of our online shop, such as free next-day delivery if the customer requests it and access to the full range of available styles via touch screen Internet terminals.
"We also offer the same deals and discounts in store as we do online, which is unusual amongst most high street retailers.
"Our focus is on offering an extensive selection of seasonal fashion footwear, quality customer service and competitive prices.
"It's an honour to be shortlisted for these prestigious awards and we're really looking forward to the event."
The team behind Cloggs.co.uk has more than 35 years' experience of trading on the high street and began operating online ten years ago. Cloggs.co.uk now stocks more than 20,000 items, including popular brands such as FitFlop, UGG, Converse, Birkenstock and Crocs, online and in the Bullring store.
The Drapers Footwear Awards 2010 will take place at the five-star Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. On the evening winners will also be chosen from the Independent Footwear Retailer of the Year, Multiple Footwear Retailer of the Year, Best Footwear Offer in a Fashion Multiple, Kids Footwear Retailer of the Year, Best New Store, Comfort Footwear Retailer of the Year, Family Footwear Retailer of the Year, Student Footwear Designer of the Year, Store/Concession Manager of the Year, Footwear Etailer of the Year and Buyer of the Year categories. Drapers will also announce their Footwear Brand of the Year and present a Lifetime Achievement Award.
